Weekly Winners & Losers
Last week was notably short on winners as grains and oilseeds were left under significant pressure as August weather remains benign and Black Sea conflict is ongoing but port operations appear to remain intact.
The wheat market was the biggest loser as both Chicago and KC took a nosedive.
Sep hard red wheat futures fell more than $1.00 (-12%) last week, closing $1.80 off of its late-July highs.
Sep soft red wheat futures were down 71c (-10%), bringing year-to-date performance to -22%.
After eight straight days of lower closes resulting in a cumulative 75-cent loss, Dec corn squeaked out a whopping 4-cent bounce on Friday.
