Soybean oil for this win this past week, up 10.3%, its largest weekly gains in nearly a year as EPA has reportedly tabled the inclusion of eRINs (the EV RIN) in its 2023-25 Renewable Fuel Standard.
There is speculation EPA will increase mandated volumes of biomass-based diesel as a result, lifting soybean oil off its recent lows. Additionally, crackdowns on fraudulent Chinese ‘used cooking oil’ (aka palm oil which is not an approved feedstock for renewable diesel production) is supportive to soy oil.
Soybean oil’s rally has helped lift crush margins - July crush is up most than 20 cents on the week.
KC wheat continues to lose its premium over Chicago. July HRW futures settled at a $1.67/bushel premium over SRW Friday, down almost $1 from the mid-May highs.
