Corn pushed into new lows yet again on Friday as USDA pushed yield to new highs.
January’s 177.3 is a new record-high yield, edging out 2021’s 176.7.
The Nov-to-Jan increase of 2.4bpa ties the record for the largest such change set back in 2022/23:
Indiana and Ohio were the only two states (of the top producers) to achieve a record yield in 2023:
Nebraska saw the largest increase from Nov, while Texas saw the largest decrease.
Pennsylvania saw the second-largest increase in yield but that comes on the back of a 19% reduction in harvested area which helped boost national yield by default.
