As crazy as it may appear, that isn’t a typo.
115 acres of west-central Missouri farm ground went for an eye-watering $34,800 an acre last week, smashing the previous all-time high of $30,000 set last November in Iowa.
Bidding for the Saline County tract started at $15,000 and lasted a mere fifteen minutes, as two local producers got into a bidding war, running the price to record heights.
Needless to say, $34,800 an acre doesn’t pencil with sub-$5 corn. Not sure it would pencil with $8 corn either!
