#1 | One big deficit

The past six weeks have been brutal across some of the country’s highest-producing regions:

Prior to today’s storms, Peoria, Illinois received an inch and a half of rain the first week of May, then the spigot turned off.

From mid-May through this morning, Peoria logged a total of 0.42” of rain - the lowest for that timeframe on record and six inches below normal.

Peoria isn’t alone as the majority of Illinois (and some surrounding areas) have seen a fraction of normal precipitation in recent weeks.
