Talk about a surprise!
At 94.1 million, 2023 would be above 2016’s 94.0 million acres of corn and the highest planted area since 2013.
Today’s corn acres were a shock coming in more than two million acres above the average pre-report estimate and a full million above the highest guess.
Only two of the major producing states saw decreases in corn acres from March and three saw no change.
South Dakota is the only state with a record amount of corn acres this year.
