Corn
Corn yield was probably today’s biggest surprise at a record 177.3 bpa - up 2.4 bushels from November and an equal amount over the average pre-report trade estimate.
In fact, actual yield overshot even the highest pre-report guess by nearly 1 bushel.
A few state-by-state changes from Nov that stick out (fast glance at the numbers - bushels per acre):
NE +9
MO +6
WI +5
MN +4
IN +3 at a record 203
OH +3 at a record 198
Unfortunately this map only shows year-on-year changes by state.
I will try to put together a map by this weekend that shows state changes from the last yield estimate in Nov.
Production increased 107mbu to a record 15.3 billion bushels, despite a 600,000 reduction in harvested area.
